Teacher Training Leadership Team
Shannon Jackson
She/Her
Shannon has been a student and teacher of yoga for over a decade. She brings her passion for this practice into each class and training. Shannon is so grateful that teaching yoga provides an opportunity for her to be of service. Teaching yoga gets her out of her mind and focused on other people. Being a yoga teacher forces her to be present and show up as her best self. There’s no greater gift other than sharing that knowledge.
TJ Mangrum
She/Her
TJ has been teaching yoga asana, pranayama, and meditation since 2012. Her sharing of the practice is deeply rooted in observance of the lineage, history, and the importance of practice. Studied in alignment focused asana, her offerings offer athletic inspired practice with safety and lineage focus. She believes in the power of choosing to breathe. And she practices and believes in the power of a good physical practice that invites the practitioner to get uncomfortable with staying comfortable and more comfortable with being uncomfortable. She encourages and appreciates a good sweat to play with stilling one’s mind and opening oneself to the possibility of seeing the things that we may try so hard not to see.
Inna Milko
She/Her
Inna is a very passionate yoga teacher. She started her yoga journey in 2012 while working as a fashion designer in Kiev and struggling with maintaining good physical health. Yoga practice helped Inna through a lot of hard times and big life changes. She finds yoga very therapeutic and empowering. After exploring different modern yoga practices around Europe, from Hot, Hatha to Ashtanga practices, Inna got her traditional 500 E-RYT training here in Atlanta. With her love for people, Inna finds teaching yoga very rewarding. Bright smiles and small wins of her students are her biggest inspiration. During this teacher training program, Inna will help you find your own voice as a leader. She will teach you how to use authentic yoga practices in a fresh and creative way.
Nikia Wright
She/Her
Nikia started practicing yoga in 2016 after watching videos online and attending community events in the area. Yoga has helped her gain confidence and put together pieces she thought were lost. She began her 200-hour teaching journey in the fall of 2021, which was a life-changing and grounding experience.
If Nikia could think of one word to sum up her reason for sharing her love for yoga, it would be “legacy.” As an early educator, she feels creating a safe space for the next generation to lean on is essential. Daily yoga and meditation practice has aided her in taking up space and finding a home on and off the mat. Her goal for the community she facilitates is to provide an inclusive and welcoming space for all while setting an example that this practice, mental health, and peace are for everyone.
Sydney Groves
She/Her
Sydney is from Warner Robins, Georgia and has lived in Atlanta for the last 10 years. She moved here to attend Georgia State University where she studied Sociology. In the midst of moving to ATL and going to college, she discovered Highland and never looked back. Sydney completed her 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training with Highland Yoga right after she graduated from GSU in spring 2017.
Sydney began teaching at Highland Yoga in 2019, and has since taught over 2000 classes. Highland Yoga is Sydney’s home studio, and where her teaching and practice truly blossomed.
Among many other things, Highland Yoga’s Teacher Training Program taught Sydney that she could do hard things—even things that seemed “impossible” for her. Sydney truly believes in the power of this program and is excited to be a part of it and share her knowledge and experience from her own teaching journey.
